Beliefs. They’re something we share, celebrate, challenge, and at Coast City Church, use to unite us. We are passionate about being known by what we are for, not by what we’re against. Our ability to believe with faith is a powerful gift. The way we share that gift with others can change their lives.
On Sunday we heard the story of 5 friends whose lives were radically altered when one of them became effectively paralyzed. How devastating! These guys went from celebrating life together, spending their days in the sun and suddenly everything changed. Yet incredibly, because of their belief these friends used their gift of faith in Jesus to bring hope and healing to their paralyzed friend. They dug through the roof above where Jesus was speaking and lowered their sweet, afflicted friend down into his presence and in His presence that friend was changed!

If you’ve ever been in love, or seen someone in love, you know it can move us to do crazy things! It’s where we get songs that say things like, “I would walk 500 miles just to be the man who falls down at your door.” Love gives us the desire to go above and beyond for those around us, but belief, our faith, causes them to actually happen. When we are able to step outside ourselves and use our belief not just for us, but for our families, our friends, and our communities, Jesus is moved. What if our church was known all around for roof digging faith? Faith that seeks out those in need and brings those needs before the one who can meet them all!
Jesus said, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son, You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” (John 14:13-14 Today let’s dig in for those who are hurting and present them to Jesus. When we are weak, we may lack the faith, but that’s where roof digging friends of great faith come in. They step in and share the burden! Let’s be that kind of friend this week!
